Five ways to help Give Me 5

Posted on

A visit to the pub for a classic chicken schnitty and putting your pedal to the metal at Power Kart Raceway: it might sound like your dream Friday night, but what if we told you these are ways you can help Give Me 5?

Officially launching their 2022 Give Me Five fundraiser, the Canberra Hospital Foundation is calling for donations to improve the lives of sick kids in the Centenary Hospital for Women and Children. And trust us when we say there are plenty of fun ways for the Canberra community to get involved.

That’s right, forget chucking your change in a bucket (note: there’s nothing wrong with this and we actually encourage it—but more on that later), your favourite activities just got a philanthropic twist.

Here are five ways to help Give Me 5.

Satisfy your schnitty cravings at Vikings Erindale

Is there anything better than a crispy chicken schnitty with a side of chips and a beer? A visit to your local pub is always a good idea but Vikings Erindale is helping to satisfy your schnitty craving while helping sick kids at the same time.

For every chicken schnitzel sold in June, they’re donating $5 to Give Me 5, raising money for life-saving equipment. Oh, and for future reference, every Wednesday, Erindale Vikings has a $16 schnitty night. Has a pub dinner ever sounded so good?

Race Nige at Power Kart Raceway

Ever wanted to put your pedal to the metal and show off your racing skills? On Friday 1 July the flag will drop at Power Kart Raceway at the GM5 Grand Prix & Radiothon. With MIX 106.3 breakfast host Nige living out his racing dreams in one of the karts, you’ll have the opportunity to compete against him in a round of races to take home the winner’s trophy.

Perfect for businesses or individuals (did someone say workplace bonding day?), it only costs $1000 to buy a seat, and with Kristen and Nige broadcasting live from the track it’s sure to be a good time as they take donations for the songs you want to hear played on-air.

If you would like to register your business or yourself for a seat in the Grand Prix send your contact details to Matt Grieves at matthewgrieves@canberrafm.com.au.

Bid your way to a better future

From signed jerseys, cheetah experiences at the National Zoo and Aquarium and the ultimate high tea package at the Hyatt Hotel, the Give Me 5 online auction is not be to missed.

There’s plenty to bid on, and with all donations going directly to support kids in Centenary Hospital for Women and Children, you can walk (or scroll) away with a smile. Make sure to keep checking the website as more goodies are added, or get in touch with MIX 106.3 if you’d like to make a donation of your own!

Give a donation (coffee-sized or bigger)

Forget your daily cup of coffee, what if we told you $5 can make an important difference to the most vulnerable members of the Canberra community? For the month of June, your donation to Give Me Five (coffee-sized or bigger) will not only support sick kids in the hospital but their families, the healthcare team, and the wider community.

Check out the Bucket List on mix106.com.au for locations of collection buckets around the region.

Spend five minutes on social media

It seems too good to be true right? But put that TikTok spiral on pause and take five minutes to scroll through the Canberra Hospital Foundation and MIX106.3 social media pages to see what’s coming up next.

It’s a great way to support Give Me 5 while staying in the know—and every interaction counts. Okay, now you can look at TikTok.
