Reworking Motherhood: helping mothers reclaim their mornings with coffee, connection and conversation

A grazing-style breakfast, bottomless barista-made coffee, conversation and connection – this new event series is helping mothers reclaim their mornings (and themselves).
Reworking Motherhood, a Friday breakfast series designed to uplift, empower, and reconnect women, is launching this August to help women navigate the messy, beautiful experience of early motherhood.
Held at Rosa’s on selected Friday mornings from 22 August to 7 November, the curated event series is all about conversation and connection, with each session themed around a specific aspect of the motherhood experience – physical recovery, identity, self-care, nutrition, and return to work.
Offering practical advice without the fluff, the series features a lineup of Canberra’s leading women in business – from physiotherapists and stylists to coaches, dietitians, and career mentors. The series was born from founder and Director of Marketing & Events at The Lawns, Amber Maddigan’s, firsthand experience as a mother of three and the need for spaces that focus on the mother, not just the child.
“Motherhood can be incredibly isolating, especially in those early years,” says Amber.
“I created Reworking Motherhood to provide a space where mums can reconnect with themselves, feel seen, and have thoughtful conversations that go beyond sleep routines and lunchboxes.”
Providing Canberra women in business a new platform to share their expertise in meaningful ways, each speaker in the series is a leader in her field, but also a mother who understands the juggle firsthand.
Amber says she wanted to help them share their knowledge and experiences by going beyond the inbox, the clinic room or social media.
“I wanted to bring them together in a format that feels relaxed and real, and let them connect with other women in a way that’s deeply human.”
Kicking off with a focus on genuine self-care, led by Women’s Worthiness Coach, Kerry Solomon, other sessions include a session with stylist Kimberley Hunt and a skin health specialist Sally Grant – both of whom will be tackling self-image and helping women rediscover their sense of self.
“As mums, we often find ourselves at the bottom of our to-do lists,” says Kerry.
“This is a chance to remember that we matter, and that our happiness and wellbeing deserve attention too. I’m looking forward to helping women find gentle, realistic ways to weave self-care into the rhythm of daily life.”
“I said yes to being part of this event because I believe there’s so much good that comes from women connecting, learning from one another and growing through shared experiences,” adds Kimberley.
Tickets are $40 per session and include a grazing-style breakfast, bottomless barista-made coffee, and a 30-minute speaker session, followed by conversation and connection.
Attendees can select one event or come to all six. Visit Eventbrite for tickets and more information.
