University qualified educators, inquiry play based curriculum, seasonally prepared menus and quality education – this is Harbour Early Learning

It’s the task every parent finds almost impossible: finding an early learning centre that is not only nurturing and fun but will also provide their child with a high-quality education in their early years.
The second hardest step? Finding a centre that ticks all the boxes and is accepting enrolments.
Luckily for parents in Canberra, Harbour Early Learning is not only setting a new benchmark for quality education for children aged from birth to six years old but is currently taking enrolments for 2025 at their Aranda and Red Hill centres.
But with only limited places available, you’ll need to get in quickly – because after overwhelming success at their landmark early learning centre in Vaucluse, Sydney, this is a unique opportunity to have your child cared for by some of the sector’s most recognisable and qualified thought leaders.
Opening its first centre in Aranda in August of this year, Harbour Early Learning (Harbour EL) aims to create a community of learning, where family values are reflected in the curriculum and the experiences for each child ensure that their personality, learning disposition, ideas and interests are recognised and nurtured.
And with Harbour EL’s Executive Director of Education Wendy Shepherd at the helm, parents can expect their child to experience a unique operating philosophy that includes more early childhood degree-qualified teachers and educators for each classroom and a dedicated Outdoor Educator.
“Highly qualified staff and a better than regulatory staff-to-child ratio, alongside collaborative leadership, increases the quality of the pedagogy and practice and more importantly, the experience and outcomes for the children,” says Wendy.
“Our excellent early learning programs and teams give reassurance that your child is entering an interesting, nurturing, safe and inclusive environment, where children are happy, learn through play, build confidence and resilience, and form lasting connections, which combined offers them the best start in life.”
As well as providing a curriculum and enrichment curricula developed by their highly qualified early childhood teachers, educators and advisors, Harbour EL Aranda, and Harbour EL Red Hill features learning spaces designed by Australia’s best architectural, interior and play space designers.
The interior designer for the Harbour EL centres is acclaimed Melbourne interior designer Danielle Brustman. Each centre features purpose-built, playful spaces to enhance learning outcomes and foster a sense of well-being among educators and students – one of the highlights of Harbour EL Aranda and Harbour EL Red Hill is they offer children multiple opportunities to engage in learning through play.
Helping children form life skills through physical exercise, music, literacy, cooking, excursions and even meditation, the team is inspired by the curiosity that children have about the world around them.
And if that’s not enough to make you consider visiting the centre, we haven’t even mentioned the little touches that make all the difference – every resource and experience at Harbour EL Aranda and Red Hill, have been thoughtfully considered; from their seasonally prepared menus curated by their nutritionist and cooked by the in-house chef, through to the sustainable and ethically sourced uniforms.
Still not convinced? Family and community are also a core focus of the practice, with Harbour EL independently and family-owned by founders Ben Hewlett and James Reynolds and at Aranda with three of Canberra’s most experienced and respected early childhood teachers and educators in Lee Yelland, Karrinn Downes and Jade Smith.
We told you it was an early learning centre with a difference.
