Add a little colour to your day…
Posted on
My clients are constantly telling me they don’t know how to embrace colour in their makeup. They’re afraid of bold lipsticks, eyeshadows, eyeliners — pretty much everything outside their go-to beige or lightly pink spectrum.
Adding colour to your makeup is a great way to show off your personality and appear a refreshed. You can incorporate small pops of colour without looking like Cyndi Lauper from the the 80s with these great subtle tips:

Keep your makeup fairly natural and add a pop of colour by investing in a coloured eyeliner. Make sure you keep the liner as thin as possible to avoid making an overpowering statement. You just want to add an interesting and fresh element to your everyday look.
If you’re not confident using eyeliner and are not a fan of the ‘flick’, try eyeshadow. Using an angled brush apply coloured eyeshadow like you would eyeliner, gripping the lash line.

If you have hooded eyes and applying coloured eyeliner on the top can’t be seen, try opting for the bottom lash line instead. Also ditch the eyeliner and go for coloured eyeshadow. You need only use a little colour on the bottom as you don’t want to entirely over power the eye; you just want to help bring attention to it. Apply an eyeliner to the top lash line to help balance the eye.
Also match the colour you’re using with your own eye colour. If you’re a blue eyes beauty opt for a light blue eyeshadow, if you have green eyes opt for a greener eyeshadow.

Slight Lip Colour Pop
If you’re yet to embrace bright lip colours there’s no shame in starting small! If you don’t normally where lipstick, start with a colour fairly close to your natural lip colour.
When you’re feeling brave enough, invest in a lip colour only slightly brighter or darker. If you gradually change your lip colour it will make you feel more comfortable – trust me! Once upon a time I was not a bold lip wearer, now after gradually embracing colour I am!
