Denman Prospect Display Street – just like a glossy architectural magazine only real

When it comes to building a home, inspiration comes in many forms.

But few could argue that Denman Prospect’s display village on Romano street does not offer the widest experience of texture, touch, size, shape, light, shade, colour and feel.

Eight houses, eight architects, and eight building companies have broken new ground and boundaries to show prospective home-owners exactly what they can aspire to in one of the city’s most desirable new residential enclaves.

A slow exploration of Romano Street allows you to experience a home from the front door to the back door and everything in between.

With three stunning new constructions opening up on the street since our last tour, we thought we would show you what has been built by Classic Constructions, Elevated and Prof Homes.

From Classic Constructions, The Portsea is a Palm Springs-inspired home combining sophistication and versatility, which director Jason Tanchevski says allows for multiple and intergenerational living zones.

“The rationale when conceiving the design for this home was to create a design that provided flexibility and adaptability for generational living,” he says.

While it is a two-bedroom home, it has the ability to be seamlessly expanded into a four-bedroom home. Much as the insides are adaptable to need, the outside features three separate living areas, all with differing aspects for usage across different seasons.

“With the evolution of the types of homes that Canberrans need and want (flexible living, multi-generational family homes, innovative design and materiality, sustainability, best use of space, etc), we wanted to ensure we could design and build a home that could capture those requisites, as well as continue to set new standards for our industry,” says Jason.

Meanwhile, the company was thrilled to be involved in the latest version of the Denman Prospect Display Village, having been represented at the original village when Denman Prospect first opened, also building showstopper display home  The Como in the area.

For Prof Homes Project Coordinator Tina Yang, the opportunity to be represented in such a ground-breaking residential experience saw Prof Homes throw its energy into getting every tiny detail of The Arte right. Hiring Ring and Associates for the home, as well as an external landscape designer and The Dept. of Design for interior design impact, allowed the company to weave many unique design points through the home.

“As one of the best display streets in the ACT and Southern NSW it’s both an honour and a challenge. It signifies that we’ve reached a level where our work can stand proudly among the best’” says Tina.

“To distinguish ourselves among the eight homes, we focused on meticulous details and high-quality craftsmanship. From bold curved designs to custom interior features, every aspect of the house was designed to leave a lasting impression and offer a distinctive living experience.”

The location helped inspire commitment to the project with Tina describing Denman Prospect as “a vibrant, modern community with excellent infrastructure and beautiful natural surroundings, making it an ideal place for families.

“As a team, we’ve completed numerous projects in Denman Prospect, with more to be built. Each project here has given us the chance to explore new design concepts and push the boundaries of our creativity and craftsmanship.”

Of course the job was not without its challenges, and the feature of striking curves created a few headaches along the way.

“These features, while visually striking, required a high level of precision and craftsmanship, from the carpentry to the installation of aluminium elements. Every curve needed to be meticulously measured and crafted, testing both our skills and patience. But these challenges resulted in some of my favourite aspects of the home.

“The flowing curves create a modern, elegant aesthetic while maintaining a practical, comfortable living space. The curved walls and aluminium details complement each other perfectly, adding warmth and character to the overall design.”

Meanwhile, Elevated is represented by Hakea, which was designed by Mather Architecture and features a considered use of textures, materials, and natural light. Throughout the homes, natural light is carried through the multiple living spaces using high ceilings, open voids in stairwells and segregated floorplans with the end user in mind. The external design has used sustainable materials to ensure the longevity of the built form, high energy ratings and a quality outcome for all future residents.

Focussing on a unique terrace home, Elevated has used its presence on the street to bridge the gap of affordability for those visiting the village that may not yet be ready for a large free-standing, premium home that Denman Prospect is known for.

“Alternatively, our terrace home can be explored by anyone coming to see Denman Prospect and may be looking to move into smaller housing options. Elevated is pleased to deliver quality at various price points,” says Stephanie Davies, Head of Property.

The company has had a long-standing relationship with Capital Estate Developments, building several single residential and multi-unit residential projects in the suburb. Elevated monitors its projects and works closely with residents to ensure its delivery promises surpass expectations, as part of their quality assurance program.

The completion of construction in the display village means it is now a premier destination for prospective home-owners, or just the curious, to immerse themselves in everything top-class homes have to offer, and all are welcome to come and inspect these beautiful creations.
