Gungahlin peeps get ready to level-up your beauty game—Canberra’s largest Chemist Warehouse is here

Posted on

Any beauty and skincare junkie knows the magical feeling of falling in love with a new product—and the pain when it turns out to costs more than half of your paycheck (we’re looking at you Pat McGrath Mothership eyeshadow palette trio).

But for Gungahlin peeps that are thrifty and stock their beauty on a budget—because the hype around the Maybelline Sky High Mascara is real and worth it—there’s some good news: Canberra’s biggest Chemist Warehouse is now open to bring you all the wonderful, discounted cosmetic and beauty buys your heart could desire.

Offically opening its doors on Thursday 17 August, it’s all a part of the new, highly anticipated Marketplace Gungahlin retail precinct (located right above the Kmart mall). And with 1000sqm of retail space, we’re sure you can find one or two bargains to sate your addiction—until payday rolls around again.

And with $60 million spent on the special expansion (that will see an overhead bridge and new level built above Kmart and Woolworths), that’s not all Gungahlinites will be able to enjoy.

With  new retailers coming to Marketplace, including an Aldi Supermarket, a 1000 square metre Daily Market Asian supermarket, a 700 square metre Desi Bazaar Indian supermarket as well an impressive range of specialty retailers—you can see why the development is named “Level Up”—the revamp is bringing everything you could possibly need to one location.

Because from additions to the food offerings (think Espresso Room, Chatkazz Authentic Indian Cuisine, and Sushi Hub) to new homeware havens (Bed Bath N’ Table and Miniso), according to Jeremy Wilson, Centre Manager of Marketplace Gungahlin, among the 6500 square metres of shopping offerings, there will be something for everyone.

“We’re taking Marketplace Gungahlin to the next level and enhancing our range of stores to cater to the rapid growth in the area. Our aim is to provide added convenience and an improved shopping experience for the community,” he says.

And for parents that prefer to shop in quiet (because how else can you decide between an OPI or Sally Hanson nail polish for your new manicure?), in addition to the popular “MarketPlay” children’s playground in the BIG W Mall, there will also be a brand-new indoor children’s playground.

Featuring a five-metre-high jungle gym-style play equipment (inspired by the iconic Bogong Moth, and celebrating its journey as it migrates from Queensland to the Snowy Mountains each year) MarketQuest promises a great new experience to keep the little ones entertained.

Coinciding with the Centre’s 25th anniversary of service to the Gungahlin community, the expansion of Marketplace (which also includes the bonus of 1300 car park spaces and the pedestrian Skywalk Bridge that provides all weather protection over Hibberson Street, connecting Marketplace’s North and South Malls), will see the shopping centre become the ultimate hub for the local community.

“This year we commemorate a monumental milestone for Marketplace,” says Jeremy.

“For 25 years we have been a pillar in the local community, providing more than just a shopping destination. Marketplace is a space for neighbours to connect, families to bond, and memories to flourish.”

“As we embark on a new era with Level Up, we’re more dedicated than ever to serving as your trusted community hub.”
