A colourful pop-up market and exhibition comes to Fyshwick this weekend

We’ve loved Canberra-based online design retailer Gingerfinch’s curated selection of Australian and international design since they launched in 2017.
But this weekend, you’ll have the chance to shop Gingerfinch’s range IRL at Colour Story—a pop-up exhibition and market held from Friday 29 April to Sunday 1 May at Gingerfinch’s Fyshwick studio.
Showcasing the works of seven Australian artists and craftspeople, Colour Story will feature works by Denise Hojdyssek, Lymesmith, Sarah Annand, Tiarna Herczeg, Madeline Cardone, Clyde Arnott and Louis Grant and will focus on how colour impacts our life.
“Our personal stories are informed by colour—a myriad of shades influence the way we feel and how we move through the world,” explains Gingerfinch Founder Peita Davis.
“From natural earthy tones to vibrant iridescent hues, colour transports us to different times and evokes memories long passed.”
“By sharing works of artists who revel in colour, Colour Story invites the viewer to delight in their own experiences with colour and reflect on how it shapes their lives.”
The exhibition will be held alongside a marketplace of Gingerfinch’s wares—the first-in person shopping experience the brand has offered.
Naturally, Peita is keen to showcase Gingerfinch’s thoughtfully curated collection of homewares and gifts in person. Sourced from ethical and sustainability-focused makers and designers from across Australia and the world, design lovers will be in heaven.
“We’re very excited to welcome people into the Gingerfinch Studio for our first-ever pop-up shop,” she says. “Every item at Gingerfinch is hand-picked with respect for the maker and their processes. This is an opportunity for customers to see, feel and learn about the craftsmanship behind each piece.”

“Our team will be on hand to assist customers in finding beautiful additions to their home, a thoughtful Mother’s Day gift, or a piece of timeless design they can treasure forever.”
But wait, there’s more. Colour Story’s opening night on Friday 29 April will also feature delicious drops from The Pop Inn, whose roaming wine van will be parked outside.
The Exhibition and Marketplace will open from 5 pm – 8 pm on Friday 29 April and run from 10 am – 4 pm on Saturday 30 April and Sunday 1 May at 5 Geelong Street, Fyshwick.
