It’s time to give a frock: Australia’s most fashionable fundraiser is back for another year

Posted on

Dig out your most fabulous outfit and start planning your next Frocktail party, because one of Australia’s most fashionable fundraisers is back for another year.

Officially kicking off to inspire people to dress up for a good cause and say ‘frock you’ to ovarian cancer, Frocktober’s annual campaign is once again turning heads all in the name of raising funds for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF).

Encouraging Australians from all walks of life to ‘frock ovarian cancer’ through fabulous and fun community fundraising activities and social media challenges, the aim is to raise awareness for the most lethal gynaecological cancer by turning heads and sparking conversations.

Affecting women, girls, and people with ovaries at any age, more than 1,800 Australian women and girls are diagnosed with ovarian cancer every year. Fewer than half of these women will survive beyond five years.

According to OCRF Chief Executive Officer, Robin Penty, Frocktober offers a fabulous way to raise some much-needed funds to help those impacted by the cancer.

“Frocktober encourages the Australian community to contribute to advancing critical research into ovarian cancer in a fun and inclusive way,” says Robin.

“Doing good doesn’t have to be dull! Whether you’re a fashion aficionado Frocking Up for 31 days or choose to Frock Your Way for a single day this Frocktober, every dollar raised is a step closer to our vision of a healthy vital future for all those impacted by ovarian cancer.”

Inviting everyone to join in on the fun, from sequins at the shops to a tutu at the gym, you can frock up every day for the entire month, participate in Frock Fridays, or host Frocktober fundraising events and parties for friends, families or at work.

No matter how you decide to frock up, it’s all about making a statement.

In 2024, ‘Frockers’ raised more than $1 million for vital OCRF-funded medical research, boosting the total raised by this unique campaign to over $16 million since it first began.

As Australia’s leading independent funder of ovarian cancer research, OCRF aims to exceed this amount in 2025 to fund lifesaving research that will accelerate early detection methods and improve treatments.

So, put your most stylish foot forward and get ready to be a part of a fashion movement that really matters – just get ready to raise some funds and be frocking fabulous doing it!
