Summer Beauty How To: pulling off a bright lipstick
Posted on
In my work travels as a makeup artist I often hear people say, ‘I wish I could pull off a bright lip’.
Do you know what the secret is? Put on some bright lipstick. There – you pulled off a bright lip!
Seriously…there is no secret to it!
If you love the idea but are still too afraid, it may be best to start of with a colour that’s slightly brighter or deeper than your natural lip colour. You should also keep the rest of your makeup to a minimum so that your lips are the focus. Rather than pairing it with heavy eye makeup, just add a few swipes of mascara.
I also suggest you invest in a matching lip pencil. Lip pencils are a great tool to make your lipstick look perfect and crisp. First outline your lips, fill them in slight with the lip pencil then add your lipstick over the top. This will stop the colour from bleeding and adds a professional element to your look.
Once you start to feel more comfortable with your colour, upgrade to a darker or brighter colour and so on.
For nights out you can be a lot bolder quicker. For your next girls’ dinner out throw on a red, pink or orange lip (whatever suits your outfit). Even ask your girlfriends what they think of the colour!
Here are some bright lipsticks I’m LOVING at the moment to give you some inspiration.
