Where to shop the recent resurgence of 2000s fashion in Canberra
Posted on
Y2K and pre-loved clothing are continuing to redefine modern wardrobes with nostalgia and individuality – here’s our guide to shopping all things vintage in Canberra.
You may have seen Ariana Grande in vintage Yves Saint Laurent at the Oscars, or Mikey Madison in vintage Armani at the Critics Choice Awards, but it’s not just celebrities on the red-carpet rocking pre-loved looks!
With younger generations desperate to save money and protect the environment, thrifting has become the go-to shopping choice. The hype around vintage clothing has revived personal style and fostered greater creative freedom in our fashion choices. From designer kitten heels to low-rise jeans, Canberra has it all!
Fashion Thrift Society
On Sunday 20 July, the Fashion Thrift Society (FTS) is returning with pieces you won’t see on anyone else. With an endless selection of unique clothes, bags, accessories and shoes, you’ll be sure to walk out with a refreshed wardrobe. One of FTS’ most popular stores, 21s Vintage Y2K, has spearheaded the comeback of Coach in Australia, with its impressive range of vintage bags. You can also find many vintage designer clothes hidden in the racks from Dior, to Burberry, to Juicy Couture.

Second Life Markets
While there is currently no confirmed date for the next Second Life Markets appearance in Canberra, they typically make their way around twice a year, so keep your eyes peeled. This vintage convention has a large curation of timeless Y2K and pre-loved pieces. When this event last came to Canberra in March, a major highlight was the array of Carrie Bradshaw approved vintage designer heels. Second Life Markets is another personal favourite of mine, as this market blessed me with my vintage Manolo Blahnik kitten heels.
