Fashfest for the curvy girl
Posted on
Fashfest is the biggest fashion event in the nation’s capital. The four-day style extravaganza will showcase exciting, unique and diverse fashion design. While I enjoy watching catwalk fashion, wearable fashion is more my style. As a curvy girl who loves fashion, I was pleasantly surprised to find that in the lineup of Fashfest designers, there were quite a few labels celebrating all women, including those with curves. I put together some outfits that I would wear in my everyday life.
The Tailored White Shirt from the label Bird Keepers was such a find! It was a beautiful fit, hugging the right areas and flaring out at the waist slightly to skim the stomach. The stretchy material was super comfy and didn’t wrinkle easily. Paired with jeans and a pair of ankle boots, I was ready for a casual day at the office.
I then threw on the Free Falling Knit Cardigan in Jet Black from the label Boho Bird. Ta da! I had a whole new outfit with a different vibe. I would wear this outfit to Sunday brunch.
The Belle Cocoon Cardi in Black from the label Boho Bird was a great alternative to layer with the versatile shirt. I added a colourful belt, changed my boots to a pair of heels and I was ready to grab some Friday night drinks!
I loved the length of the tailored shirt. It was perfect to wear as a tunic with the Belle Ponte Legging in Black and long boots. Another comfy and casual outfit for the weekend!
I finally changed out of the tailored white shirt and into a dotted camisole. I loved it with the longline cardigan from before, but in the colour Gunmetal.
The Spot Pencil Skirt in Navy Spot was a flattering and gorgeous skirt. I teamed it with a plain black peplum top and a white blazer. Simple accessories and a work bag and I was office ready.
That Bird Label’s Polly Waist Tie Dress in Chilli was a gorgeous statement dress that was really fun to wear. The vibrant red pattern in the flowy fabric really appealed to my feminine style, which is why I styled the dress with matching red and black heels and a bold red lip! Date night here I come!
The final outfit featured Boho Bird’s Music Maker Dress in Istanbul. A bohemian-inspired piece, it made me feel relaxed and romantic. I wore the dress with the Belle Ponte Legging in Black and long boots again.
I love that Fashfest features labels that recognise the reality of body shapes of average Australian women (size 12 – 22). It’s fantastic that these designers give the average woman access to great fashion that make us feel stylish and confident about ourselves.
