Where to find Canberra’s best sausage rolls

Sausage rolls are the ideal winter comfort food.

They have always been there for us when we needed them most, whether it was during the long days at kids weekend sport tournaments, at the highway petrol station or the Friday night footy.

Now is the time to give these savoury pastries the appreciation that they deserve. Here’s a list of our faves.

Uncle Juan’s Bakehouse

Uncle Juan’s Bakehouse stall is renowned for their delicious handmade sausage rolls, and the fact that they are only available on Saturdays at the Capital Region Farmers Markets from 7.30am to 11.30am makes them even more sought-after.

If you haven’t tried them yet, do yourself a favour and get up early this Saturday and head to EPIC for a freshly made Uncle Juan’s Sausage roll.

Dobinson’s

For generations, Dobinson’s have been creating some of the best pastries and treats in Canberra and have perfected the art of sausage roll making. With two new locations, Dobinson’s café in the city is the perfect place to satisfy your sausage roll cravings. The main café is based outside on Bunda Street and the stall is just around the corner inside.

Crust Bakery

 

Crust Bakery was opened in the Fyshwick Fresh Food Markets in 2010 by Nick and Louise Smith, who between them have over 50 years of experience in the Canberra baking scene. They know how to please the public with the sweet and savoury pastries which are baked fresh daily.

Available Thursday to Sunday 7am to 5.30pm.

Three Mills Bakery

Three Mills Bakey are self-confessed artisan pastry fanatics, so it’s no wonder that their sausage rolls are considered some of the best in Canberra.

Drop into Majura Park and experience their great service and incredible sausage rolls Monday to Friday 7.30am to 3.30pm.

Le Bon Mélange

Le Bon Melange is a French patisserie and a little piece of Europe in the heart of Gungahlin, offering a French twist on the crowd pleasing sausage roll.

Braidwood Bakery

 

Since its inception almost 87 years ago, the Braidwood Bakery has been providing travellers with a place to meet and enjoy award winning pastries with friends before continuing on their travels. These guys know what they’re doing and you are guaranteed a perfect Sausage roll every time.

The Braidwood Bakery is located on the Braidwood main street and is open seven days.

Remy’s Bakery

French master baker Romain Remy, originally from Autolyse Bakery in Braddon, and his team have established a new dining experience on Canberra’s foodie map with Remy’s Bakery and their sausage rolls are as good as you would expect from a master baker. Located in Fyshwick, Remy’s produces all kinds of artisan breads and pastries.

Remy’s Bakery is open Monday to Friday 7.30am to 2.30pm and Saturday 8am to 1.30pm.

Bean & Grain

Bean & Grain, located at Canberra’s iconic Fyshwich Markets and with another storefront in Deakin, prides themselves on their exceptionally delicious coffee and café styled meals along with their house made sausage rolls and award-winning sourdough bread.

Open Thursday to Sunday 7am to 5pm, so start planing your weekend brunch date.
