2020 in review: The Cocktail Edition
Posted on
Is 2020 over yet? Please?
From the team that brought you the original Quarantini in March, it is time to celebrate the end of the year with three new special 2020-style cocktail creations from none other than The Martini Whisperer, Phillip A Jones.
Following our fabulous performance mixing these on last night’s Instagram live (except, of course, the fact we didn’t have any sound for the first few minutes and had to start again – ahhh 2020 you got us good), we thought we better write down the recipes for those who were following along, or for those who want to wow their friends and family over the summer with these delicious treats.
THE PIVOT
This cocktail has both spice and sweetness. In a year of mixed blessings, we can found ways to make the best of things at hand to create something new!
- 60mls The Canberra Distillery Sloe gin
- 30ml Strangelove Hot Ginger Beer or, alternately, Strangelove Light Tonic water
Build in a glass over ice and stir
Garnish with a slice of Candied Ginger and Grapefruit peel garnish
You can also make a jug of this for sharing with friends!

The Pivot
THE TWENTY-TINI
We did it. We not only survived—we also found new sources of strength, community and inspiration. That deserves a toast!
- 45ml of The Canberra Distillery x HerCanberra Earl Grey Gin
- Prosecco
Top gin with chilled Prosecco into a champagne glass
Sprinkle in some edible gold dust
Garnish with a Maraschino Cherry

ISO-COMFORT
There’s no place like home—especially when you have no choice. This cocktail is designed to make it even comfier.

- 30ml Beenleigh White Rum
- Dash of orange bitters
- 15ml Cosmorex coffee—cold
Shake over ice and pour into a chilled cocktail glass until frothy
Dust with cinnamon
Option: pour over icecream for a grownup Affogato!
