New places in Canberra to get your morning coffee fix

Posted on

Looking for a new coffee spot? Here are 10 newbies to put on your bucket list.

No matter where you’re located in Canberra, from suburban gems to city cafés, there’s sure to be somewhere new for you to try.

Bunny Beans Café (Tuggeranong)

Nestled in the heart of Greenway, this family-run café is worth popping into.

Open seven days a week, along with your morning coffee you can grab some delicious food –ranging from a B&E Roll with cheese, pickled cucumber, and honey mustard to a chicken and potato waffle with smoked bacon, maple syrup, and paprika. Another highlight? It’s dog friendly!

Lilette (Dickson)

Starting as a pastry shop in Melbourne before moving to Canberra, Lilette is bringing a slice of Paris to Dickson.

Serving traditional French breakfast and lunch dishes (as well as plenty of sweet treats) everything is made in-house by two passionate pastry chefs. But you’ll want to get to this café early – they sell out fast. Coffee and croissant, anyone?

Seoul Sistaz (City West)

Now open on Moore Street, this new café is serving your favourite Korean food and drinks in City West.

Serving everything from coffee from Pablo&Rusty to Very Berry Matcha, and even a Black Sesame Latte, Seoul Sistaz has it all. Pop in Monday to Saturday to treat yourself (and to try a Kimbap)!

Espresso Room (City)

Calling all caffiends who work and play in the city, you have a new coffee stop. Located outside of Coles, Espresso Room is now open from 7 am during the week and 7.30 am on weekends to ensure you’re caffeinated and fuelled with baked goods.

Head in to get your hands on a cup of ONA coffee and some yummy Wildflour pastries ASAP.

Eighty/Twenty (City)

Eight/Twenty has opened a seventh location on Mort Street, and you should be excited. Why? Because they’re collaborating with 7 Miles Coffee, so you’ll have seven blends to choose from for your morning brew!

As for the food? You can expect everything from a Snickers Acai bowl to a vegan Buckwheat Waffle, a Japanese salad, a Morocco Spiced Chicken burger, and more.

Caffé al Lago (Gungahlin)

Serving ONA coffee and some amazing sandwiches, this new café already has a cult following – and it’s not hard to see why.

Serving Italian sandwiches on freshly baked schiacciata and focaccia panini bread (baked to order), grab yourself one to go along with your coffee and lake views.

Kickstart Espresso (Belconnen)

Desperate for a coffee but don’t have time to stop in at a café? The good news is Belco locals can now get a coffee on the go from Kickstart Espresso.

Providing good old-fashioned food and service, and quality coffee from Toby’s Estate, having a barista-made coffee just a short drive away sounds like the perfect excuse to stay in bed a little bit longer.

Lil Mama’s Studio (Kingston)

Lil Mama’s Studio is a café with a difference – and it’s bringing some rizz to the foreshore.

The concept of Lil Mama’s Studio simple: a muti-hyphenate venue to act as the capital’s crib for creatives. Because (in the most GenZ move ever), Lil Mama’s Studio is much more than a café. It’s also a studio space for vintage clothing pop-ups, art nights, live music, and a place for creatives to chill and connect. Plus, they serve Reuben Hills coffee. Need we say more?

Recess (Griffith)

This new go-to coffee spot served locally roasted beans – but with Anthony Iannelli (the brains behind Terra in Civic) at the helm, you know it’s going to be good.

With a relaxed retro feel, a cute courtyard, and breakfast, lunch and snack options available all day, seven days a week, this café will quickly become a favourite.

Dobinsons (Majura)

Need a coffee to feel motivated before getting your weekly groceries? Same. Luckily for those who love going to Majura Park Shopping Centre for their weekly shop, Dobinsons is now open.

Serving all of the delicious treats you love, grab yourself an indulgent pastry and a coffee for the perfect start to your weekend.
