Real weddings: Emily and Mark
Posted on
Emily and Mark’s rustic summer wedding at the Tuggeranong Homestead incorporated a relaxed, country vibe that tied in perfectly with the venue. The lovely bride takes us through the day…
Getting ready
We got ready at my parents house, which is close to the venue. It was nothing too fancy, but we had a champagne breakfast and lots of laughs getting ready. It was really relaxed and fun.
The dress
My dress was a custom designed piece by Made With Love Bridal, an online Australian based boutique.
I came across someone who I follow on Instagram and fell in love with her wedding dress, so I sent some pictures off to Made With Love to see if they could make it, and within the week I had paid for and ordered my dress!
My dress was a full soft tulle skirt with a 120cm train, with a sheer lace paneled back and lace coming over the front of the dress to cover a deep sweetheart neckline.
The ceremony
Mark is a country boy and we really wanted to incorporate his lifestyle and upbringing into our day. We loved the rustic, country feel of the Tuggeranong Homestead and it was a bit of a blank canvas as we could style it however we wished.
We also loved that it was all in one location so our guests didn’t need to travel at all during the day. It made for a very relaxed feel.
We got married in the gardens of the homestead and then a rustic old barn only a few metres away for the reception. So many people commented on how genuine and beautiful the ceremony was.
Our celebrant is a family member and also the Senior Pastor at our church, and he did an amazing job. It really changes the feel of a ceremony when you personally know your celebrant.
The reception
The day felt like a dream. We had festoon lights hung outside which is what we sat under and the evening was a perfect, clear evening with a nice breeze.
Most people said it was one of the most fun weddings they’d been to with the lawn games and gelato cart we had on offer.
We had a buffet dinner, which I liked because it meant people could help themselves to what they did and didn’t like. We chose rustic styling because we felt it went with the homestead but I also had always loved the look of a rustic wedding and we felt it was on trend.
