Cream Eyeshadow: better than powder?
Posted on
Have you ever wondered if cream eyeshadows would be better than powder ones?
There are lots of benefits to using cream eye shadows – and some drawbacks – that I will run through for you today!
Pros
Easy to use
Just swipe them on with your finger, no fancy brushes needed!
Easy to travel with
You don’t have to panic if you drop a cream eye shadow…it certainly won’t smash into crumbs.
Looks more natural
The cream consistency means that the product can look a lot more natural on the skin and won’t accentuate any wrinkles you may be concerned about.
Cons
Not always long wearing
Some cream eye shadows won’t last all day on the eyes. Because they are cream, they are more likely to crease and move around. To prevent this, make sure you use a good eye shadow primer to hold them in place.
Can’t do fancy eye designs
You can’t do any complicated or fancy eye makeup designs using only cream eye shadows. You can use powder shadows over cream ones, though, if you want to do something special.
You use them up faster
I find that cream eye shadows will be used up a lot faster than powder ones – applying them with your fingers does allow for over-application. Also, because the cream is so soft, it will move around and make a well in the centre.
To summarise, if you are after a quick, easy way to bring simple colour to your eyes, then a cream eye shadow is for you!
