Five spots to get your hot soup fix this winter
Posted on
The air has a bite to it, but a good bowl of soup will remedy the sting.
This winter, we’re on the hunt for the best local soup spots to drown our shivers and put feeling back into our fingers! Here are some of our faves at the moment.
Močan & Green Grout (Acton)

Močan & Green Grout is a cosy, rustic-chic café/restaurant in the heart of dynamic NewActon, offering up mouthwatering soup specials for the chilly season. It’s the perfect winter hideaway; we suggest ending your meal with a cup of their quality fair-trade coffee before braving the wind and cold.

Savoir French (Acton)

Savoir French is a little café and bakery located in the ANU’s art and design precinct, just a short walk from the city centre. Rooted in simple and hearty French cooking, Savoir will please everyone. We recommend their soupe du jour (often the classic and comforting potato and leek) which will warm you to your toes!

Hangari Kimchi (Dickson)

Full disclosure: I am completely biased towards Hangari Kimchi. I was a little under the weather a few weeks ago, and the prospect of cooking dinner for myself felt like a dreadful and totally unattainable undertaking. Half an hour, an Uber Eats order, and a disapproving bank account later, I was curled up in my kitchen with a steaming bowl of salty, spicy kimchi and tofu soup, and in that moment I felt I’d never had a meal so satisfying. Anyhow, it’s comforting Korean BBQ with plenty of yummy soups and stews on the menu.

Muku (Scullin)

Muku Ramen Bar is totally plant-based, but I’m quite sure even the most dedicated carnivores will drool over the (ever-changing) menu. Nearly everything is made in-house, including their noodles and dumplings, and there’s nothing quite like fresh ramen when it’s cold outside.
