Women’s health in the spotlight with Women’s Health Matters survey

Posted on

Women have experienced years of dismissal when it comes to their health – whether it be their concerns are ignored or a health achievement goes unnoticed.

After a two-year hiatus, the Women’s Health Matters survey of women’s health in the ACT has returned and they’re asking you to share your experiences and help them keep working to improve health and wellbeing in the ACT.

This short survey benefits all women or femme-identifying people by building an understanding of the real-life experiences, strengths and needs of women in the community. Insights from the survey will guide Women’s Health Matters work with the governments and service providers to improve the health, safety, and wellbeing of all women in the ACT.

If you can’t remember what this survey was like last time, or didn’t get round to completing it, here’s a refresher of some important details! Or you can get started here.

What is the survey about?

The Survey of Women’s Health in the ACT is about the state of women’s health in our local community. The findings are used to inform and develop new services, help government and other funders work out what kinds of health care are most needed in our community, and equip Women’s Health Matters to advocate for better systems to support women’s health.

Who can complete the survey?

The survey is open to women and femme-identifying people, and people who align themselves with this group, as long as you are 18 or over and living in the ACT or surrounding regions.

Can I complete the survey if I didn’t do it last time?

Whether you completed the survey in 2022 or didn’t get round to it, everyone is welcome! They’re hoping to get as many responses as possible.

How long will the survey take?

Set aside roughly 15 minutes for this task. It might take you a little shorter or longer, depending on your answers.

What kinds of questions does the survey ask?

This survey covers a range of topics, and asks questions about your overall health and wellbeing, mental health, sexual and reproductive health, menopause, pregnancy, contraception, violence and safety, using and paying for healthcare services, and income and finances.

Are there any sensitive questions in the survey?

Yes. Some of the questions may be triggering, so we suggest you do the survey in a private space and at a time when you feel comfortable and safe.

If you need to take a break at any time while completing the survey please do so. Support options are also available and listed here. This link will open a page in a new browser window which you can leave open while completing the survey.

You can stop the survey at any time and choose not to complete it, if you find some of the questions too triggering.

Can I do the survey another way?

These email addresses will be deleted from their records after the prizes are awarded.
