Bell Shakespeare’s Hamlet at Canberra Theatre Centre
Dark acts result in darker consequences. And there is little that’s darker and more complicated than the act of revenge.
Anguish, passion and desperation collide in this tragic telling of Hamlet, the Prince of Denmark who is tormented by the impossibility of his dilemma, and who remains one of theatre’s most fascinating characters.
Damien Ryan, returning to Bell Shakespeare following the critically acclaimed Henry V in 2014, will deliver a new production of Hamlet, infused with the passion, contemplation and emotion that Shakespeare’s compelling poetry cries out for.

The Southside Farmers Market is a village market that provides all the fresh food that you need for your weekly shop. Step Up For Down Syndrome
Down Syndrome Australia is the national voice for people with Down syndrome and their families.
Down Syndrome Australia is an initiative of the eight state and territory associations that provide support, information and resources to people with Down syndrome and their families across the country. The associations have come together to represent and progress the needs, interests and aspirations of people with Down syndrome and those that support them.
Step UP! for Down syndrome is a huge national celebration. This community event brings people with Down syndrome and their families and friends together during Down Syndrome Awareness Week in October. Participate to raise money for your local association.

TSG Blending Day
It’s your turn to play winemaker for the day! Learn the art of blending with Mount Majura Vineyard’s (MMV) winemaker Frank van de Loo as he takes you through the components of their multi award winning TSG (Tempranillo, Shiraz, Graciano).
The event will begin with a tasting of the current 2014 vintage of TSG followed by each component from barrel of the as yet unblended 2015 vintage. Then its over to you to make your own TSG blend. Each blend will then be judged by the MMV panel.

Canberra Latin Dance Festival
The Canberra Latin Dance Festival is two days and three nights of back to back first class workshops, amazing performances and parties. All held under the one roof at the Australian National University (ANU) Sports and Recreational Centre, there will be two party rooms, so you can dance all night long.
The festival will be held over the weekend commencing Friday, 16 October to Sunday, 18 October.
With some of the best international and Australian artists to perform and teach workshops, these amazing dancers will not only inspire you with their breathtaking performances, but share their wealth of knowledge.

Dead Men’s Wars
Canberra Youth Theatre (Australia) in collaboration with Long Cloud Theatre (New Zealand) boldly challenge the gender iniquities surrounding the ANZAC legend inDead Men’s Wars, an original theatre performance at the Street Theatre from Wednesday 14 October to Saturday 17 October.
Witty and provocative, Dead Men’s Wars is a fresh perspective on the ANZAC tradition that follows one young woman who dares to speak out and question a nation founding myth that “leaves out half the nation.”
Twisting between reality and the abstract, Dead Men’s Wars casts new light on the traditional concepts of nationhood, mateship and the masculine nature of war. Performed by an international cast of young actors from New Zealand and Australia,Dead Men’s Wars investigates the women of the ANZAC myth and suggests that sometimes “the story spoken the loudest isn’t the only one there is.”
To explore the evolving relationship between these two ANZAC nations, Dead Men’s Wars debuts in Canberra before traveling to Wellington for a second season at BATS Theatre running from Wednesday 21 October to the Saturday 24 October.
Dead Men’s Wars is truly an international collaboration with a creative team and cast drawn from across Australia and New Zealand. Playwright Ralph McCubbin (NZ) and Director Brett Adam (NZ) developed the play through a series of workshops with young actors from Canberra and Wellington. For playwright Ralph McCubbin, this unique development process created the play’s contemporary perspective, one that attempts to redefine the relevance of the ANZAC sprit into the next century:

The 2015 Greek Film Festival
Norway
Presented by Molonglo Group, Hotel Hotel and Hellenic Club of Canberra, the festival will be held at Palace Electric in the NewActon precinct.
It will be a weekend filled with Greek food and wine, live music and compelling cinema. The Canberra leg of the film festival will feature a curated list of five screenings as well as accompanying events. Screenings will also be preceded by complimentary Greek mezé and wine at the Palace Electric Prosecco Bar.
The Program: Friday 16 October, 6.00pm: Screening of Alex and Eve preceded by the Festival Launch in the Nishi Grand Stair featuring appearances by actors
Tony Nikolapoulos and Zoe Carides, a Greek feast by Monster Kitchen and Bar, and live music. Sat 17 Oct, 6.30pm: Screening of Tetarti 04:45 (Wednesday 04:45).

Evensong: A musical performance by Clarion
Visit the National Portrait Gallery and enjoy a free half hour weekend musical performance after you have perused the collection. Evensong is a musical performance by Clarion, a vocal ensemble, led by Tobias Cole.
