“Hot Mama”: Discovering the allure of maternity wear

Posted on

“Becoming a mother doesn’t mean you have to lose your sexy self,” explains Elaine Nguyen.

Struggling to find a maternity bra that made her feel confident, local Canberra mum and entrepreneur Elaine designed a unique new bra to empower other mums.

Elaine created the Canberra owned maternity label Gazongas Collection, after seeing a gap in the market during her own pregnancy. Women face so many challenges during pregnancy, with their changing bodies, hormones and lost sleep. Elaine felt that feeling confident in your bra shouldn’t be an added challenge.

“Motherhood can be so overwhelming that we forget to look after ourselves,” says Elaine. Elaine focuses on the importance of looking after yourself as a mother and feeling confident and sexy, a feeling she calls “mama mojo”. Gazongas is about more than just providing a necessary product; it’s about feeling confident while pregnant and empowering other mums in the ‘mama mojo’ community. Elaine knew she wanted to introduce a bra that was a both versatile and comfortable without losing the sexy style that is often forgotten in typical maternity bras.

“I struggled to find a bra that I could wear around the house, be active in and wear somewhere special,” explains Elaine. With this in mind Elaine designed the ‘Hot Mama Bra’ focusing on four important elements: comfort, support, versatile features and a sexy design.

The initial release of bras will be targeted at larger busted women with cup sizes ranging from D to G and band sizes from 12-18. While the Hot Mama Bra is the foundation of Gazongas, it will be part of a larger range of versatile maternity lingerie with a focus on hard to find shapes and sizes.

Elaine loves to hear feedback and experiences from other mums to help develop her products and is holding an event that will allow local mothers and mums-to-be to join the ‘mama mojo’ community and influence design of the Hot Mama collection itself in the form of a High Tea Bra Testing event on February 6 2016 at scenic Telstra Tower.

The free event will allow local mums to meet, mingle and enjoy a High Tea, before having the opportunity to try on the prototype and be fitted by professional bra fitters. You will then be able to provide feedback, which will influence the final design. The event is a great opportunity for local mums to engage and be part of a supportive and empowering community.
