Some of our fave Canberra indie boutiques for summer shopping

Because sometimes, you just need a little wardrobe refresh.
For some people, a new season and the approach of a new year means hitting reset. It might mean setting goals, building new routines, or physically decluttering the things that aren’t serving you anymore.
When it comes to fashion, many of us clear out our wardrobes to make room for something new. Whether you need to replace your favourite worn-out jeans or you’re seeking a complete rebrand through your clothing choices, these independently owned Canberra boutiques offer something a little different from the standard shopping centres.
From carefully curated collections to underground skate shops and a Y2K haven, here are some boutiques we love.
Goldfinch (Kingston)

All about designs for women who value sustainable and ethical fashion pieces that last, Goldfinch is an Australian-made label that was originally curated in Pambula and has expanded to Canberra’s Old Kingston fashion boutique precinct.
The clothes are boho-inspired, influenced by the glamorous styles of the ‘70s and ‘80s. From floaty linens to retro-inspired pants, shopping here might just be the wardrobe re-fresh you need.

For those still loving the Y2K looks that have dominated social media feeds for the last year, Blonde Concept in Braddon is a haven. Stocking all those ‘effortlessly cool’ pieces that somehow just work (even when they look like they shouldn’t), the boutique is owned by young female trailblazer and DJ, Mia Sorlie.
The boutique offers a breath of fresh air when it comes to fashion, thanks to the kaleidoscope of colours, cuts and brands sourced for the stylish shopper. From Karameleon Australia to Permanent Vacation, you’ll be sure to discover a new brand to obsess over during the summer.

This small but mighty store has long had a loyal following of fashion-forward Canberrans, and it’s no surprise why. Owner Ana Derek carefully curates everything you see – from fashion and vintage offerings to homewares, gifts and body products.
